Below are some of the frequently asked questions we receive at Helix Binders.
Weight & type of paper?
- We use 100g/m2 uncoated paper, which is FSC checked.
Type of cloth used?
- We use library buckram cloth. This is hardwearing & durable. You can preview the colours in our thesis gallery https://www.helixbinders.co.uk/gallery/thesis-binding/
Binding adhesive or sewn?
- Majority of universities recommend glue adhesive binding. As standard we use hot melt glue on all our thesis bindings. If your thesis is for personal use & you would like your thesis sewn then please get in touch by e-mailing info@helixbinders.co.uk
Binding margins?
- We recommend minimum 25mm on binding edge (left hand side) & minimum 20mm on all three remaining edges.
- When duplex printing (double-sided) we recommend mirror margins so that your printed page is registered properly.
Can I order different thesis to come to the same address?
- Yes you can order different thesis going to the same address. Complete your order as normal & for your second order, in delivery, request collect from bindery. Once all orders are completed e-mail info@helixbinders.co.uk with all order numbers & we will ensure all your orders are sent together.
Can I deliver to two different address on the same order?
- Yes this is possible. You will complete the order as normal & add a second address.
The order template is not what I want on my front cover, how do I change this?
- If you would like a bespoke front cover then this can be achieved by sending an A4 Word document how you would like your cover to be set out. Everything is required to be in black & white (no greyscale).
I can not put my full title on my cover/spine. How do I change this?
- When ordering your thesis we use a template for each individual university. These templates can be restrictive as some universities only require crest or limited character count.
- For the spine we recommend: Name, Year & Degree or in any order.
- Your spine is limited to approximately 60 characters including spaces.
- For the front cover we recommend sending an A4 Word document showing how you would like your cover to look.
Up spine or down spine?
- Majority of books read down spine i.e. they start at the top (head) of the spine & read downwards (towards tail). Each university has their own templates however you can change this if required.
Delivery
- We use next day delivery tracking service. Once your order has been shipped you will receive an e-mail (please check your junk or trash folder) with your tracking number.
